New Construction Ambassadors for Cornwall

New Construction Ambassadors for Cornwall

Last week, Ward Williams Associates hosted the CITB and local industry professionals for Construction Ambassadors training in their Truro office.

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) work with the construction industry to promote training and development, in order to create a skilled and qualified workforce. Part of their remit is to attract new people into industry and one of the key strategies for this is creating Construction Ambassadors.

Construction Ambassadors Cornwall

Construction Ambassadors are trained by the CITB to provide careers advice, inspiring and encouraging young people to consider a career in construction. Following training they will attend community and school events to offer industry insight and advice on qualifications, training and career routes.

Peter George and Chris Gingell from the CITB undertook the training with local companies, including; Ward Williams Associates, Arcadis, PBWC, Kendall Kingscott and WSP.

Kate Mills, Partner, said:

“We were delighted to host the Construction Ambassador training with other local professionals. We believe this collaborative approach is needed to address the ongoing skills shortages within the construction sector”.

“We had a range of attendees including surveyors, architects and engineers. The Ambassadors will be working with schools and colleges across Cornwall to inspire the next generation of construction professionals”.
