The Box, Plymouth

The original City Museum and Art Gallery in Plymouth’s City Centre have been completely transformed and extended to provide a cutting-edge, interactive centre, three times its original size.

The Box provides a new home for the city’s vast historic collections, making them more accessible to everyone and a key cultural attraction for the city and region. The refurbishment of St Luke’s Church and creation of a new public square for gigs, performance, theatre and events has been part of this major development.

As Project Managers, the WWA team has worked closely with Plymouth City Council, designers and stakeholders to develop this amazing facility for the City. The project is led by the Council and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, Coastal Communities Fund, Garfield Weston Foundation, University of Plymouth, Wolfson Foundation, Interreg and the BFI.

The Box is an integral part of the social and economic success of Plymouth, attracting visitors and providing a hub for education and learning.
