St Helens has stood as a beacon on Lundy Island since 1896 when it was built by the Rev Hudson Heaven. Restoration works on the historic church building have been ongoing over the last 9 years. In 2017, the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded the scheme a grant, which combined with money raised by the Lundy Parochial Church Council (PCC) helped the project advance significantly in 2018.

The newly refurbished St Helens Centre provides a place for worship, a base for visiting schools and research students, along with a new exhibition featuring Lundy Island’s extraordinary history, wildlife and landscape. The vestry has also been refurbished and provides comfortable accommodation for visiting clergy and research students.

With vast experience of complex heritage projects with third-party funding, WWA was appointed to provide Project Management services to lead the project and achieve the aspirations set out for the scheme.

This fantastic project was awarded Heritage Project of the Year 2019 at the Michelmores Property Awards.
