David’s ‘Coast to Coast’ Cycle Challenge for Charity

David’s ‘Coast to Coast’ Cycle Challenge for Charity

WWA’s Health and Safety Principal, David Owen, will be undertaking an epic ‘coast to coast’ cycle challenge. Raising money for the Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF), a charity that has provided his family with tremendous support.

The CHF (www.chfed.org.uk/) is a small charity run by parents. Their aim is to support other parents of children with congenital or acquired heart defects.  Helping families cope and making the children lives better, even if those lives are far shorted than one would hope.

The ride starts in Ilfracombe on the North Devon coast and finishes on the Barbican in Plymouth. The most challenging part of the course is a climb to the highest point in the South West – High Wilhays in Dartmoor.

The total ride will be over 115 miles, with the total climb covering 6,500 feet. As this an individual challenge rather than an event, David will also have to carry his supplies with him, increasing the difficulty of the challenge.

David Owen, said:

“I am extremely keen to raise awareness and support for the Children’s Heart Federation, this is a cause that is extremely close to our family, with the CHF giving direct support to us recently and I am determined to assist this hard-working charity anyway I can”.

“This ride is daunting, with a large distance to cover and huge climbs at what will likely be the hottest time of year. I just hope I can carry enough water”!
