Green Team Graduation

WWA Green Team member and Senior Associate Director, Phil Crossley has now graduated with an MSc in Sustainable Construction Project Management, from Plymouth University.

The course is run by the University’s School of Architecture, Design and Environment, and has been designed to build specialist knowledge and skills to enable graduates and existing professionals to excel as sustainability aware project managers.

The programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and won a RICS Global Award for ‘Best Practice in Sustainable Development Surveying Education’ in 2013.

The MSc is delivered over three years in a distance learning format combined with intensive face-to-face teaching weekend sessions. The course compliments Phil’s professional skills and has furthered his in-depth understanding of the knowledge, tools and techniques involved in sustainable development and construction, and how this applies to both our working practices and life choices.

It also included the study of various sustainable construction assessment systems and tools including; BREEAM, LEED, Green Apple and Passivhaus, and how these can work within Project Management.

Phil’s dissertation looked at how we can deliver true value for the Client through the incorporation of sustainability into the project management system. He is now looking to continue this work, with an innovative value, risk and sustainability workshop, along with a value management process and monitoring system.

The WWA Green Team have gone from strength to strength since it was set up four years ago and one of their core deliverables is knowledge sharing and training. Throughout the duration of his MSc, Phil has run internal sustainability workshops and utilised his knowledge, experience and professional network, to deliver a series of CPD sessions, to enhance sustainable construction knowledge across WWA.
