Work to Start on New Primary Academy in Gloucester

The construction of a brand new, state of the art academy commences on the 1st July in Longford, Gloucester.

The academy and nursery is run by the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA). GLA is a local multi-academy trust including;
  • Bishops Cleeve Primary Academy;
  • Rowanfield Junior School;
  • and Springbank Primary.

Contractors, EG Carter are appointed by developers Robert Hitchins to construct the new nursery and primary school. The building comprises eight classrooms alongside nursery provision. Also, included is a multi-purpose hall and flexible outdoor space. Habitat areas and sports pitches, are also key design elements.

WWA are providing Project Management, Employers Agent and Quantity Surveying services.

The scheme is designed by local architects, Quattro Design Architects. It is based on a model previously used at Waterwells and Kingsway in Gloucester.

Tom Michaluk, Principal Quantity Surveyor said:
‘The school is a vital part of the continuing development of the site in Longford, which has been on-going since 2014. WWA is working alongside the academy, local council, client, contractor and design consultants to ensure the school meets the requirements of the future pupils’.
 
Construction will be complete before the start of the school year in September 2017, accommodating up to 210 school places.
