Staff at Ward Williams Associates in Salisbury ‘lend a hand’ to transform fences surrounding local Specialist Children’s Centre

Team members from our local Salisbury office have taken time out from delivering construction projects in the area to help their local Specialist Children’s Centre – the John McNeill Opportunity Centre.

The team has been busy painting around 250sqm of fencing (and a shed!) to aid in improvements to the facility.

WWA is a B Corp certified business, which is a collective of companies who are continually dedicated to using ‘business as a force for good’ and helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.  Across all of our regional UK offices, our teams regularly take part in volunteering days and various initiatives to benefit their local communities.

The John McNeill Opportunity Centre jumped at the chance to have our Salisbury team onboard for a day, to use their skills to make a difference.

B&Q Salisbury and the Community Repaint Initiative made it a great all-around day, with their donations of various paints and tools for our team to get the job done.

Mark Stevens, Partner of the WWA Salisbury office said: “It was such a great team effort and made a change to spend the day outside working, rather than a combination of desk work and construction site visits.  You know you’re making a difference when you are frequently thanked by Centre Staff and parents alike throughout the day, whilst wielding a paintbrush!  There was a lot of fence to paint and our efforts have made a positive impact to the look of the site, and will of course preserve the fencing for some time to come”.

The John McNeill Opportunity Centre is the District Specialist Centre for South Wiltshire. They welcome children with additional needs and help to support their parents and carers. They are South Wiltshire’s only specialist nursery for children with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Angela Bryant, Manager of the John McNeill Opportunity Centre said: “We were thrilled when Ward Williams Associates approached us to offer their help with painting all of the fences surrounding our site.  The fact that they have all given up a day of work to help us and that they collaborated with B&Q in Salisbury and Community Repaint, who very kindly donated paint supplies and various tools to help them get the job done, just shows what happens when a community ‘pulls together’.  They have truly transformed our site and staff and parents of the Centre have all commented how wonderful it looks.  We sincerely appreciate any help that Salisbury-based businesses and individuals can provide to The Centre, which is a registered charity.  By volunteering or making charitable donations, this ensures that we can continue to provide the care we do, for the early years children here, who all have special educational needs or disabilities.”
