We are looking for innovative Placement Students who want to question, learn and improve: to think beyond your current skillset and harness technology to mitigate risk and speed up delivery. Your role will be focused on using enhanced data analysis to optimise value for our clients. It is essential that all team members focus on relationships (internally and externally) and provide a personal service to our clients.

We are looking for Placement Students across all our WWA offices. The role will involve the provision of assisting in the full range of pre and post contract Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services across commercial, residential, public and private sectors. As a Placement QS, you will be working within a friendly and experienced team, involved in a wide range of projects, assisting on all aspects from inception to completion and ensuring delivery on time and to budget with the highest levels of service.

 

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Studying towards a Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant subject
  • Able to assist in estimating, producing budget and cost plans
  • Able to assist in the tender document taking off process including being part of, and sometimes leading, the measurement team
  • Able to assist with the running of projects post contract including carrying out interim valuations an certification, cost reporting and agreeing final accounts
  • Able to participate in site progress meetings including taking minutes and eventually chairing meetings
  • Able to assist with the definition of Quality standards, prepare quality plans, and develop and instigate procedures to achieve set standards; delivering or improving upon the required quality
  • Able to assist in general contract administration (including issuing all necessary contract certification)
  • Prepared to undertake site visits, assessments and projections for future work
  • Confident with direct interaction with other consultants, the client, other stakeholders and the public and professional in their work and appearance
  • Computer literate including the use of the standard Microsoft Office Suite of programmes
  • In possession of good client-facing and analytical skills – with the ability to analyse and sort data into an understandable form
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision, to a high standard
  • Able to work under pressure and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal and team-working skills, and a motivated and productive attitude
  • Able to prioritise and undertake a range of tasks
  • Positive and flexible in their attitude, with good organisational skills

The position will require an element of travel to fulfil the requirements of the role, so having a full clean driving licence would be desirable.
