WWA breaks ground at Great Oldbury Primary Academy, Gloucester

WWA is providing Employers Agent and Quantity Surveying services, on behalf of their client Robert Hitchin’s Ltd, for a new primary school in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. With the groundbreaking ceremony having taken place last month the team is excited to start work on site.

The Great Oldbury Primary Academy will be constructed on land next to Oldends to provide a local school for the planned development of 1,350 new homes in the town. The schools’ construction is part of a larger housing and mixed-use development by local developers Robert Hitchins. As part of the section106 obligations, Robert Hitchins has worked with Gloucestershire County Council to provide the brand new primary school alongside a new nursery, with further expansion planned at a later date.  The school itself will open in a phased manner, allowing it to grow gradually in order to accommodate the new pupils as the housing comes on line.

EG Carter is the principal contractor following a competitive tender exercise with Gloucestershire Learning Alliance the chosen academy sponsor.  The same team successfully delivered the Longford Primary School project together and WWA is looking forward to working with them on the project going forward.

On the wider development WWA is also providing Project Management and Quantity Surveying services to deliver all the primary infrastructure and employment spaces.
