Pendennis Masterplan, Falmouth

Pendennis Shipyard began the major redevelopment of its Falmouth based yard in 2013 and was completed in May 2015. The programme of works was part funded by the ERDF and Cornwall and Isle of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growing Places Fund.

The previous facilities have been rebuilt and replaced by larger construction halls, workshops and offices, together with a tidally controlled wetbasin. These extensive improvements have been in response to the changes in the superyacht industry since Pendennis was founded almost 30 years ago. In 1988 a 50m yacht was perceived to be large, however, this is now the average overall length of vessels visiting Pendennis, with some as big as 85m.

The yard in Falmouth can now boast some of the largest and most accessible superyacht new build and refit facilities in the world.

WWA provided Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Principal Designer and BREEAM Assessor along with other services and have overseen the statutory approvals, marine licensing, stakeholder consultations and funding applications to the ERDF Convergence Programme.
