WWA Supporting Local Charities Across the Nation This Christmas

Christmas is traditionally a time to see family, look after each other and take delight in the joy of giving.

Whilst this year will undoubtedly be different for many, at Ward Williams Associates (WWA) our commitment to supporting those in need is unwavering.  We appreciate that this year especially, supporting our local communities and charities is crucial.

Despite a challenging year, the WWA team has continued to grow, including opening our new office in Manchester. We appreciate our reach across the UK is now greater than ever. Each of our 7 regional offices has selected local charities close to their hearts to support this Christmas, alongside our company-wide charity St. Petroc’s.

Beth Hamilton in our Plymouth Office explains why one of Plymouth’s chosen charities this year was Muscular Dystrophy UK, in particular, their Tavistock Branch; “I wanted to raise money for this particular charity in memory of Joe and Felix Crabtree. Their sister is one of my closet friends and I have seen how MD can affect a person and their family. The local Tavistock Branch have helped the family enormously throughout the years- organising a holiday for them to create priceless memories. It is fantastic to know that money has been raised to help other families and to carry on the work that is being done to fight against muscle-wasting conditions.”

In Gloucester, their chosen charity was Gloucestershire Nightstop. Based in the centre of Gloucester, they provide emergency accommodation for young homeless people in the homes of trained and vetted local people. They provide a bed, an evening meal and breakfast to vulnerable people aged 16-25 who have nowhere else to go for the night, and continue to work with them to help break the cycle of homelessness. Elaine Pearson-Scott, Service Manager at Gloucestershire Nightstop said;

“We at GNS are grateful that you have been able to support our organisation and can assure you this donation will go towards helping and supporting our young service users during this unprecedented time.

When young people come to us, they are often ill-prepared. Some have only what they are standing in. In these cases, we provide spare clothing, food, toiletries, and other items that help in the very short term. While young people are on placement with us, we get to know them a bit more and work with them to address other issues that they may be experiencing.”
